EAST MOLINE COMMUNITY FUND AT A GLANCE

A Bit of Background

Never doubt that a small group of people can accomplish great things. In 2011, four people gathered to finish the final details of the new East Moline Foundation. Bob Baecke, Bill Phares, Doug Reynolds, and Ben Ryan Jr. had been planning to form a geographic-based affiliate fund for months with Moline Regional Community Foundation. Now known as the East Moline Community Fund (now a partner fund of Moline Regional Community Foundation), the founders are joined by Eric Davis, Connie Dowsett, Marcia Lintz, Victor Moreno, Cathie Rochau, Shaun Taylor, Jen von Kaenel, and Matt Wright. This group works to raise funds to benefit the community and review and allocate grants for charities that benefit

East Moline, and to accept legacy and estate gifts.

Soles for Children

"Soles For Children ensures that no children go without. We ensure the children have shoes, coats, mittens, socks, and hats every year. We plan to give away over 1,000 pairs of new shoes, coats, and other items to children in need every year. We also provide free haircuts, hairstyles, and food at our events." Soles for Children

Second Step: Child Protection Unit

"This curriculum introduces the topic of child sexual abuse within a general safety curriculum. The program realizes the role of the parent by including them in the curriculum and teaches children to get help if they need it." EveryChild

"If you can dream it, you can do it. The only question is, what’s next?

Find everything you need to learn new skills, transform your community, take your cookie business to the next level, plan a dream trip, or try something different.

Whether she participates in Girl Scouts as a Juliette or in a troop, she will have a safe and supportive community to just be herself. Our council hosts programs, conferences, and committee opportunities for girls to connect with other teens in the region and make life-long friendships."
